JWI J-Mate Sludge Dryer | JWI 360G Parts & Replacement Dryer

The JWI J-Mate sludge dryer has been one of the most successful continuous sludge dryers utilized throughout the metal finishing and industrial wastewater industries. Originally developed by JWI and later sold through US Filter, Siemens, Evoqua and Xylem, thousands of pounds of metal hydroxide sludge are dried every day utilizing these systems.

Although ownership of the product line has changed several times over the years, many JWI J-Mate sludge dryers remain in service today.

Met-Chem provides engineering support, replacement components and complete replacement sludge drying systems for every generation of the J-Mate dryer.

 We support:

  • JWI J-Mate Dryers
  • US Filter J-Mate Dryers
  • Siemens J-Mate Dryers
  • Evoqua J-Mate Dryers
  • Xylem J-Mate Dryers

Whether you require replacement components or are considering replacing an older system entirely, our engineers can help.

What is a JWI J-Mate Sludge Dryer?

What is a JWI J-Mate Sludge Dryer?

What is a JWI J-Mate Sludge Dryer?

The J-Mate dryer was designed as a second stage sludge dewatering process downstream from a J-Press filter press, belt press or centrifuge. While mechanical dewatering equipment removes a significant amount of water, residual moisture remains trapped within the sludge cake.

The J-Mate dryer utilizes indirect infrared heating to continuously remove this moisture while producing a dry, granular material that is significantly less expensive to dispose of than wet sludge cake.

Depending upon the application, volume reductions of approximately 2:1 to 5:1 may be achieved while reducing disposal costs substantially.

Model Capacity

J-120G0.75 - 1.5 Cu. Ft./Hr

J-180G1.5 - 3.0 Cu. Ft./Hr

J-360G3.0 - 6.0 Cu. Ft./Hr

The JWI 360G remains one of the most common continuous sludge dryers found in industrial wastewater treatment systems..

How Does the JWI 360G Work?

What is a JWI J-Mate Sludge Dryer?

How Does the JWI 360G Work?

Wet sludge cake is loaded into the receiving hopper where the material is broken apart before entering the drying chamber.

The material is continuously conveyed through the system utilizing a stainless steel belt while indirect infrared heating removes moisture from the sludge.

Unlike direct fired systems, no flame comes into contact with the material being dried.

The system includes:

  • Receiving hopper
  • Stainless steel drying conveyor
  • Infrared heating system
  • Wet scrubber
  • Control panel
  • Blowers
  • Gas train assembly
  • Motors and gear reducers
  • Discharge chute assembly

The resulting material is discharged as a dry granular product for disposal.

Should You Repair or Replace Your Dryer?

Should You Repair or Replace Your Dryer?

Should You Repair or Replace Your Dryer?

There is not always a single correct answer.

Customers processing a relatively consistent sludge stream may elect to rebuild their existing JWI sludge dryer. Other facilities may find that replacing the system entirely provides lower operating costs and improved reliability.

Factors to consider include:

  • Age of the dryer
  • Available replacement components
  • Utility consumption
  • Maintenance requirements
  • Disposal costs
  • Desired throughput
  • Available floor space

Met-Chem can help determine whether rebuilding or replacing your existing dryer provides the greatest return on investment.

Looking for a New Sludge Dryer?

Should You Repair or Replace Your Dryer?

Should You Repair or Replace Your Dryer?

While the JWI J-Mate remains an excellent design, many customers are evaluating newer sludge drying technologies.

Met-Chem manufactures batch sludge dryers ranging from laboratory units through large industrial systems capable of handling a wide variety of sludge streams.

Applications include:

  • Metal hydroxide sludge
  • Battery recycling
  • Industrial wastewater sludge
  • Biosolids
  • Chemical processing sludge
  • Mining applications

Our engineers can recommend whether a continuous or batch sludge dryer is most appropriate for your specific application.
